History
On February 4th, 1984 Scott Bouwens rang up the first sale at his newely established store "Precision Skateboard Sales". He placed a few ads in Thrasher magazine and mail order sales of specials like airbrushed Alva decks did well. By 1986 however things were changing and a rash of break-ins at the shop were causing stress in family business where the shop was located. At the same time Rich Flowerday of Rich's Skateshop (the other skateshop in town) was looking to return to school to finish his degree in Political Science after also making his first sale in 1984. This is where Phil Burcher, a newly transplanted skater from northern Virginia, had the idea to join forces with the two locals and open Lincoln's first real downtown skateboard storefront. Thus began the second chapter of Precision Skateboard Sales. The first location was 110 S. 19th St. (19th and O street) in Lincoln NE. Half a block south of the longest cruising street in the country, the energy and action that went on at this location was on another level.
This first new downtown store was barely bigger than a closet at 275 sq. ft. which included the office and bathroom! In a word tiny, and so was the rent at $125.00 a month. How could we lose? -to be continued...
